PAWTUCKET – Marketing firm Mercury has raised “a significant amount” of capital to build an online marketing tool, the company’s chairman said Friday.
Chairman Peter Ottmar said Angel Street Capital and Dover Partners led a group of eight investors in a deal that took about six months to close. He declined to disclose financial details.
“The really puts us in a good shape to ramp up our business and launch our platform and continue to grow our marketing services,” Ottmar told Providence Business News.
Ottmar said the money would primarily go toward the creation of an online tool aimed at integrating Internet and print marketing for small businesses. The software is expected to incorporate Web-to-print capabilities, e-mail marketing, mobile device marketing and social media while providing real-time data.
“When I start explaining to people about the platform the feedback I’m getting is extremely positive,” Ottmar said.
The platform under development by Mercury’s TWOBOLT Marketing Technologies division is expected to launch in late summer or early fall, Ottmar said.
Ottmar is also a partner at Dover Partners, which has offices in Providence and Hilton Head, S.C. Angel Street Capital is based in Providence. Mercury said that Bristol County Savings Bank provided additional debt financing.
Mercury, known for years as Mercury Print & Mail Co., was founded in 1953 as a company specializing in direct mailings.
