NORTON – After officially ruling out a North Attleboro site, the new home for the miniature version of Fenway Park will be Norton, The Sun Chronicle reported, citing an announcement by the Norton selectmen on Thursday.
The Mini Fenway developer previously had been in talks with officials of North Attleboro to construct the replica on 15 acres of the Bragg-MacDonald Town Forest. The agreement would have given the town access to the fields for youth baseball.

Kids Replica Ballpark, the nonprofit developer of the $2.7 million project, announced on Tuesday it had decided in favor of a private land gift at an undisclosed location. The organization has not confirmed the Norton location, despite the officials’ announcement, and plans to do so in September.
The Norton Parks and Recreation Department will run programs at Mini Fenway all year in order to “generate badly needed revenue for this department and help attain its goal of becoming fiscally self-sufficient”, said Selectman Timothy Giblin to The Sun Chronicle.
The replica was planned to be constructed in two phases. The first would focus on fields, bullpens, the Green Monster and a façade resembling the one at the real Fenway Park. The second leg would bring additional fields, a food concourse, a baseball-oriented museum, a store and a theater.
