Miriam launches patient e-mail service

PROVIDENCE – The Miriam Hospital has launched a service that allows friends and relatives of patients to send them personal greetings by e-mail, which will be printed out and hand-delivered by hospital volunteers during business hours.
“The support and connection to family and friends are important to the healing process,” Jeni L. Mowry, manager of volunteer and customer services at The Miriam Hospital, said in a news release. “In just minutes, and with a few clicks of the mouse, you can let your loved ones who are in the hospital know you’re thinking about them and wishing them a speedy recovery.”
Because the greetings have to be printed out, the hospital noted that they are similar to sending a postcard by mail, so loved ones are asked not to include any sensitive or confidential information.
