Mobile Beacon to donate security systems

NORTH PROVIDENCE – Mobile Beacon will pilot a grant program providing school districts with broadband security camera systems.
The grants are available to 51 cities in 22 states, including Providence.
Mobile Beacon, which provides mobile broadband service to education and nonprofit organizations, will donate up to four security cameras for schools to monitor certain areas around the clock.
“These cameras, although a nontraditional use of broadband access, still play a crucial role in a school’s educational mission,” said Katherine Messier, Mobile Beacon’s director of broadband services. “They help foster a safe learning environment for students, teachers and administrators by ensuring only authorized personnel will be present in the school building.”
