PROVIDENCE – Moniker Brewing, a new microbrewery, is proposed for a West Side neighborhood.

Moniker Brewing LLC, which has headquarters in the Saunderstown section of North Kingstown, has requested city permission to open a microbrewery at 432 and 436 West Fountain St. The property is located in a general commercial district, but the use requires a special use permit under Providence zoning.

The proposal is put forward by Moniker Brewing and the property owner, RCG Cobblestone LLC. The city’s Zoning Board of Review was scheduled to review it on Wednesday.

According to papers filed by applicant Seth Zeren, the plan is to renovate an existing commercial garage for the new business, without exterior construction. The interior renovation will be handled by Libby Slader Interior Design.
