WASHINGTON – Most major cable and telephone providers of high-speed Internet connections in the U.S. deliver service at 80 percent or more of advertised speeds, the Federal Communications Commission said in a study.
The agency said it examined service from 13 of the largest Internet providers, which collectively serve about 86 percent of U.S. wireline broadband connections, including AT&T Inc., Verizon Communications Inc. and Comcast Corp. The results can help consumers choose providers, the FCC said in the report released Tuesday.
