1. CVS issues notice of another round of layoffs as part of plan to cut 2,900 jobs POSTED ONLINE: NOV. 29. CVS Health Corp. notified state labor officials that it is laying off another 796 employees as part of its plans to cut 2,900 jobs companywide. Of the 796 employees, just 12 work in Rhode Island. This brings the total number of workers with Rhode Island ties affected by CVS’ layoff plans to 1,428, with 165 who work in Rhode Island.

2. UNFI to lay off 121 employees tied to Lincoln office POSTED ONLINE: NOV. 29. United Natural Foods Inc. has notified state labor officials that it will be laying off 121 employees who report to its offices in Lincoln. Of the 121 employees, about 50 live and work in Rhode Island while the rest work remotely. All affected employees have been notified.

3. New management company takes over at Providence Place mall POSTED ONLINE: NOV. 18. Providence Place has new management just weeks after being placed into receivership. Centennial Real Estate Management LLC has transitioned into property management responsibilities of the mall, according to W. Mark Russo, one of the West Warwick attorneys handling the receivership proceedings that started when lenders petitioned for a judge to step in because the mall owners have been unable to make payments on a $259 million loan.
