“We are incredibly proud to once again be rated as a nation-leading Medicaid health plan,” said Peter Marino, CEO and president of Neighborhood. “We have ranked in the top 10% of Medicaid plans since these ratings existed, which reflects our consistency in delivering high-quality, affordable care for Rhode Island’s most vulnerable populations.”
Neighborhood is one of 14 health plans out of 201 across the country to receive an overall 4.5 rating – no Medicaid health plan earned a 5 out of 5 rating. The ratings are released annually by NCQA, an independent nonprofit organization focused on assessing and reporting the quality of health care plans, programs and organizations across the country.
“Our members deserve access to the highest-quality care,” said Dr. Kristin Russell, Neighborhood’s chief medical officer. “We are constantly seeking ways to strengthen our ability to provide safe and effective health care that meets the diverse needs of our members and leads to positive health outcomes. Continuous recognition as one of the top Medicaid plans highlights our dedication and is a powerful affirmation of the hard work and collaboration with terrific providers across the state that drives our mission.”
According to NCQA’s Health Plan Ratings methodology, the organization “rates health plans that choose to report measures publicly.” NCQA uses three sets of quality measures for ratings, including clinical quality and health outcomes, patient experience and health quality processes.
