Nestor’s traffic system cuts Delaware violations

PROVIDENCE – The Delaware Department of Transportation has extended its contract with Nestor Traffic Systems for the company’s CrossingGuard traffic-signal system by three more years.
Nestor has provided technology for Delaware’s Electronic Red Light Safety Program for the past four years. The state also plans to add CrossingGuard, which uses patented video technology to detect speed and red light violations, to at least 20 more intersections.
Since 2004, 16 of the 20 intersections in Delaware that have Nestor’s CrossingGuard system installed have experienced a decrease in total crashes, according to the company.
The CrossingGuard system gives police evidence of traffic violations by capturing multiple frames of red light violations. Less than 3 percent of the incidents recorded by CrossingGuard are challenged in court, and less than 1 percent are overturned. &#8226
