The Ruane Friar Development Center is a two-phase, multipurpose project being constructed by Dimeo Construction on the northwest edge of the Providence College campus. The first phase of the project, scheduled for completion in 2018, includes an approximately 58,000-square-foot addition to the existing Slavin Center/Alumni Hall. Phase one, estimated at $30 million, will include two practice basketball courts, athletics offices and locker room space for the PC men’s basketball team. Phase one will also include new training, recovery and office space for the PC Department of Athletics, enhancements to the Canavan Sports Medicine Center offices, a new Friar Athletics Hall of Fame and a dining room. The plan for phase two, estimated at $7.5 million, features an expansion of ’64 Hall in the Slavin Center, one of the college’s largest meeting spaces, and an expansion and renovation of the college’s Career Education Center located in the Slavin Center.
