PROVIDENCE – Forty-four nonprofits that are either based in or serve Newport County recently received close to $340,000 in grants from the Rhode Island Foundation to finance their operations and programming.
The foundation says the grants will support the organizations’ work ranging from educational programs for local school children and disaster recovery preparation to food pantries and arts activities. The grants are through the foundation’s Newport County Fund, which awards grants of up to $10,000 for various community support initiatives led by local organizations.
