MIDDLETOWN – OceanPoint Insurance Agency has acquired Christopher & Regan Insurance based in North Kingstown, according to a company announcement.

OceanPoint Insurance, a subsidiary of OceanPoint Financial Partners, declined to disclose financial details of the transaction, according to a spokesman. OceanPoint Financial Partners also owns BankNewport.
Thomas Regan and Kathleen Christopher, principal owners of Christopher & Regan, will join OceanPoint Insurance as vice presidents, and will continue to operate out of the agency’s offices in North Kingstown, according to a press release.
“In looking to expand our coverage in North Kingstown and South County, we couldn’t have found better people in Tom and Kathy and their tremendous staff to team up with to continue to build a successful agency. We’re looking forward to bringing out expanded markets to benefit their clients and the people of the area,” said Doug Mayhew, president and CEO of OceanPoint Insurance.
Christopher & Regan, founded in 1974, employs 12 people and represents commercial and personal lines of insurance throughout the state. The company doesn’t anticipate any downsizing or layoffs, according to the spokesman.
“As an agency dedicated to the community for over 40 years, it was essential to us that we turn to an agency like OceanPoint that shares our values and commitment to our staff and clients,” Christopher said.
