Olneyville mill project underway

PROVIDENCE – The first phase of a redevelopment of an Olneyville mill into industrial space for small businesses kicked off on Wednesday.
“Everybody is redeveloping their mills with condos and rentals,” the mill’s owner, Duke Lossini, told Providence Business News last February (READ MORE). “There’s no place left here for manufacturing. … We’re the only guys offering that. Look around at all these mills. Nobody offers anything for small businesses.”
Lossini, 88, has owned the mill, at 91 Hartford Ave., since 1956. It also houses Eli Group, his metal-locket and casing manufacturing business, on the third floor.
The 127,000-square-foot mill’s ground floor has been converted to eight rental units, ranging in size from 1,212 square feet to 3,922 square feet. Lossini also plans to renovate the second and fourth floors, he said.
