Our Lady of Fatima, St. Joseph choose VNA Service of Greater Woonsocket

Our Lady of Fatima Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital for Specialty Care —
divisions of St. Joseph Health Services of Rhode Island — have selected
the Visiting Nurse Service of Greater Woonsocket as its preferred
provider of home care health services.

The new agreement was reached following St. Joseph’s review of a range
of options to expand its home care services, and replaces a former
arrangement with Northwest Nursing Services/VNA.

Under the agreement, St. Joseph and the Visiting Nurse Service will
collaborate in pursuit of the following objectives:

  • Ensure the highest quality continuum of care while also minimizing
    hospital length of stay.

  • Enhance patient access to a complete continuum of health services.
  • Decrease unnecessary hospitalizations.
  • Minimize cost of care by providing the most appropriate level of care
to patients, in consultation with attending physicians.

  • Allow St. Joseph Health Services to serve a larger geographic area.

“This agreement is unique in that, by partnering with a proven
community-based home health agency, our organization avoids the
unnecessary costs and risks which would have been associated with
expansion of our own hospital-based agency,” said H. John Keimig,
president and chief executive officer of St. Joseph Health Services.
