Patrice Wood to give RWU commencement address

WJAR-TV NBC 10 anchor Patrice Wood will give the commencement address at graduation ceremonies of Roger Williams University on Saturday, May 20, the school announced earlier in April.

BRISTOL – Earlier this month Roger Williams University announced WJAR-TV NBC 10 anchor Patrice Wood will give the school’s commencement address at graduation ceremonies held on Saturday, May 20.

“We think it is particularly important to recognize those who have contributed to the public good and who reflect our institutional mission of ‘strengthening society,’ ” said RWU President Donald J. Farish in prepared remarks.

A more than 37-year veteran of the state’s news industry, Wood received a bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University and joined WJAR-TV NBC 10 in 1980.

She will be accompanied by her husband, Paul Pabis, who will receive his master’s degree in leadership, and daughter Stephanie, who will be receive a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from RWU. Wood will receive an honorary degree in communications.

In addition, RWU will confer an honorary degree on Dr. Pablo Rodriguez, who serves as chair of the Women & Infants Health Care Alliance, president and CEO of Women’s Care, former medical director of Planned Parenthood of Rhode Island and a clinical associate professor at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
