PBN named ‘Distinguished Newspaper’ for 2019 by NENPA

WORCESTER, Mass. – Providence Business News was recognized as a “Distinguished Newspaper” among specialty publications by the New England Newspaper and Press Association at the organization’s 2019 New England Newspaper Conference, held Thursday.

Since 2010, PBN been recognized as either “Newspaper of the Year” or as one of two runners up six times in its category, including the top spot last year.

In February, PBN was awarded first place for general excellence by the association at its 2019 New England Newspaper Convention. It was the fourth time in the last decade, and the second year in a row, that PBN received the honor.

Other newspapers in the region recognized at the Oct. 10 conference include:

  • The Providence Journal, Distinguished Newspaper for weekday publications with circulations greater than 35,000; Distinguished Newspaper for Sunday publications with circulations greater than 40,000.
  • The Standard-Times of New Bedford, Distinguished Newspaper for Sunday publications with circulations between 10,000 and 20,000; the paper also earned The Allan B. Rogers Editorial Award for an outstanding editorial.
  • The Sun Chronicle of Attleboro, Distinguished Newspaper for Sunday publications with circulations less than 10,000.
  • The Herald News of Fall River, Distinguished Newspaper for Sunday publications with circulations less than 10,000; the paper also earned a Publick Occurrences award for its ongoing coverage of “Mayor Correia.”
