Poyant acquires Dion Signs

NEW BEDFORD – Poyant has acquired Dion Signs, the company announced last week.

Headquartered in New Bedford, Poyant is a regional and national signage and brand company. Dion Signs, a custom sign manufacturer, is headquartered in Central Falls.

Poyant said Dion staff will remain with the company following the acquisition. Dion had 23 employees at the time of acquisition, which closed on June 19. The combined company now consists of 70 employees.

Dion Signs will continue to do business under its own name, but its operations have been consolidated to Poyant’s New Bedford location, according to Poyant. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Dion Signs was founded in 1989 by brothers Ray, Richard and Ron Dion, the companies said.

“The Dions have always maintained a high level of integrity and professionalism within our industry. We are grateful to have them join our team,” said Richard Poyant, president of Poyant. “Combining our two companies’ skills and experience under one roof will bring a higher level of capability to all of our customers.”

Poyant described Dion Signs as one of the largest sign manufacturers in Rhode Island.

“Our families have worked together for more than 20 years, through the Rhode Island Sign Contractors Association and the Northeast States Sign Association, supporting and strengthening our industry,” said Ray Dion, senior account executive for the combined company, in a statement. “And now we will work together to provide for our customers.”
