PPAC announces 2018/2019 lineup

PROVIDENCE – The Providence Performing Arts Center announced its 2018/2019 season lineup Tuesday.

The organization announced 14 shows, including the launch of three national tours, as part of PPAC’s Broadway Series. The upcoming season will feature the extremely popular Broadway show, “Hamilton.”

PPAC also announced that on Oct. 6, the Loews State Theater Building (where PPAC resides), will be celebrating its 90th anniversary. The theater will host a free party to mark the milestone on Saturday, Oct. 13.

The new season’s announced shows fell into three groups, the Taco/White Family Foundation Broadway Series, the Encore Series, and its Broadway and Contemporary Specials.

In the Taco/White Family Foundation Broadway Series:

  • “Miss Saigon” will launch its national tour at PPAC, Sept. 21-30, 2018
  • “Anastasia,” Nov. 27-Dec. 2, 2018
  • “Cats” will launch its national tour at PPAC, Jan. 22-27, 2019
  • “Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” Feb. 5-10,2019
  • “School of Rock,” Feb. 26-March 3, 2019
  • “Waitress the Musical,” May 28-June 2, 2019
  • “The Band’s Visit” will launch its national tour at PPAC, Spring 2019
  • “Hamilton,” July 23-Aug. 11, 2019

In the Encore Series:

  • “The Phantom of the Opera,” March 21-31, 2019
  • “The Book of Mormon,” April 23-28, 2019
  • “Jersey Boys,” May 10-12, 2019

The Broadway and Contemporary Specials include:

  • “Mannheim Steamroller Christmas by Chip Davis,” Dec. 7, 2018
  • “2018 Holiday Pop’s Tour: The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra with Keith Lockhart, conductor,” Dec. 8, 2018
  • “Stomp,” April 12-13, 2019
