PR veteran joins Trainor to develop brands

Bruce Leonard has joined Trainor Branding & Public Relations in East Providence as director of brand development. He most recently served as CEO of Everest Communications. A founder of the advertising agency Leonard/Monahan Inc., Leonard has worked with many national and global brands over the course of his career. In his new role at Trainor, Leonard will look to help growing companies attain the highest return on investments for their brands.

PBN: What would the Providence community remember most about Leonard/Monahan?
LEONARD: Leonard/Monahan was noted as the small Providence agency that year after year won awards for its creative work. In head-to-head competition with Boston agencies 10 times bigger, Leonard/Monahan often came out ahead. The agency, along with a number of other talented smaller agencies in smaller cities around the country, helped to instigate the move of many prestigious accounts away from complacent, bloated New York agencies. You don’t have to be big to be good.

PBN: How does that success help with what you’re doing now?
LEONARD: Creative thinkers are essentially problem solvers who come at the problem in unique and often unexpected ways. Such “idea” people are worth their weight in gold. Big ideas drive business success.

PBN: Why join a firm after having your own for so long?
LEONARD: I never tire of collaborating with talented people who solve problems through creative thinking. We have some of those people here especially in public relations and marketing. I am focusing on the advertising we do. It’s great fun.

PBN: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
LEONARD: I’ll be multitasking as I am now. Along with my work for Trainor, I teach and I am helping RE/MAX build its brand one house at a time. With all of this and six offspring, I’m never bored.
