WASHINGTON – The U.S. information sector attracted estimated revenue of $280.8 billion in the second quarter, an increase of 3.8 percent from the previous quarter and 6.2 percent from the second quarter of 2006, according to a report today by the U.S. Commerce Department’s Bureau of the Census.
Professional, scientific and technical services (excluding veterinary and landscape architecture services) had second-quarter revenue of $308.6 billion, an increase of 3.5 percent from the first quarter and 6.9 percent from the year-ago quarter, the bureau said.
Administrative/support and waste management/remediation services took in $131.9 billion, up 4.0 percent from the first quarter and 0.7 percent from the second quarter of 2006.
Hospitals and nursing/residential care facilities saw income climb to $214.1 billion, up 1.3 percent from the first quarter and 7.5 percent from the year-ago period, the bureau said.
The estimates are not adjusted for seasonal variations.
