The Verizon Foundation donated $10,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence to support its Project Learn program, which provides students with homework help, computer instruction, educational enhancements and fun, academically beneficial activities.
“Verizon is proud to support the Boys & Girls Clubs and Project Learn,” said Donna Cupelo, president of Verizon Rhode Island. “The Boys & Girls Clubs are instrumental in teaching our youth to become strong, educated, self-sufficient adults,” she said.
“[The Verizon Foundation] understands the importance of educational enrichment programs that complement school curriculum and help us continue to educate the work force of the future in Rhode Island,” said Nicole Dufresne, executive director of the Boys & Girls Club of Providence.
Project Learn enhances the skills children learn at school through high-yield learning activities at the club after school. This comprehensive and research-based program strategy was formally evaluated by Columbia University and proven to boost academic performance. •
