PROVIDENCE – Construction is progressing on the pedestrian bridge in Providence, which will connect the development parcels of the former Interstate 195 lands on the east and west sides of the Providence River.

The $16.97 million bridge project is being administered by the R.I. Department of Transportation. The contract was awarded in September to Daniel O’Connell’s Sons Inc., of Holyoke, Mass.

The company submitted the lowest of seven bids. It began construction of the span in October 2016. Completion is scheduled for fall of 2018.
