PROVIDENCE – The Providence Redevelopment Agency will accept proposals this month from entities or individuals who want to redevelop 17 properties acquired through the city’s redevelopment efforts targeting vacant houses.

The program targets properties that have been blighted for up to 10 years, according to Mayor Jorge O. Elorza. The city will accept bids to redevelop some or all of the properties.

The properties are spread across the city in several neighborhoods. The specific addresses follow: 23 Arch St.; 51 Candace St.; 137 Carpenter St.; 78-80 Harriet St.; 30-32 Luna St.; 13 Madison St.; 30 Marietta St.; 86 Messina St.; 29-31 Pekin St.; 889 River Ave.; 316-318 Valley St.; 39 Waverly St.; and 60 Whittier Ave.

Proposals under the RFP, or request for proposals, must be developed in accordance with PRA Special Redevelopment Plan rules, as well as city zoning and comprehensive plan requirements.

The redevelopment agency will score proposals based on criteria, with up to 90 points heading to the technical criteria of a proposal. Purchase prices will be awarded 10 points in consideration.

Completed proposals are due in writing to the redevelopment agency by 3 p.m. March 16.
