The division urged filers to utilize an electronic filing option for expediency, accuracy and security. The DLT also noted that electronic filing is the only way to receive refunds by means of direct deposit.
The filing deadline for taxes is Monday, April 15.
The Division of Taxation also warned that some federal returns may be delayed, particularly for returns that claim the earned income credit or the additional child tax credit, as it allows the IRS to prevent loss due to identity theft.
The division said it expects to receive and process more than 650,000 resident and nonresident personal income returns this year.
