R.I. and Mass. gas prices remain unchanged this week

PROVIDENCE – The average price of self-serve, regular unleaded gas in Rhode Island remained $2.86 per gallon this week, 3 cents above the national average of $2.83 per gallon.

Gas prices ranged 40 cents, from a low of $2.69 to a high of $3.09 per gallon. Year over year, the average price of gas in Rhode Island increased 17 cents from $2.69 per gallon.

  • Midgrade gas averaged $3.07, ranging from $2.89 to $3.39 per gallon.
  • Premium gas averaged $3.34 per gallon, ranging from $3.12 to $3.49 per gallon.
  • Diesel fuel averaged $3.18 per gallon, ranging from $2.99 to $3.29 per gallon.

In Massachusetts, regular gas averaged $2.84 per gallon, remaining the same from last week and 1 cent higher than the national average. Year over year, the price of regular gas in Massachusetts increased 14 cents from $2.70 per gallon.

Prices in Massachusetts ranged 41 cents from $2.68 to $3.09 per gallon.

  • Midgrade gas averaged $3.10 per gallon, ranging from $2.89 to $3.39 per gallon.
  • Premium gas averaged $3.27 per gallon, ranging from $3.01 to $3.59 per gallon.
  • Diesel fuel averaged $3.15 per gallon, ranging from $2.93 to $3.39 per gallon.
