
PROVIDENCE – The average price of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island increased 1 cent to $2.84 per gallon this week, 3 cents below the national average and 18 cents higher than this time last year, according to AAA Northeast Monday.
Prices ranged 40 cents, from a low of $2.69 per gallon to a high of $3.09 per gallon.

- Midgrade gas averaged $3.08 per gallon, ranging from $2.79 to $3.39 per gallon
- Premium gas averaged $3.27 per gallon, ranging from $2.89 to $3.49 per gallon
- Diesel fuel averaged $3.22 per gallon, ranging from $3.15 to $3.29 per gallon
“Despite a 3-cent average increase nationally, gas prices in our area remain relatively stable,” stated Lloyd Albert, AAA Northeast senior vice president of public and government affairs. “Right now, oil inventories are strong and demand is down. Analysts will be following recent jumps in crude oil prices to see if they have any impact for consumers at the pump.”
In Massachusetts, the average price of regular gas remained unchanged from last week at $2.83 per gallon, 4 cents lower than the national average and 23 cents higher than at this time last year. Prices in the Bay State ranged 44 cents, from a low of $2.65 per gallon to $3.09 per gallon.
