The Verizon Foundation recently presented a $7,500 grant to the Boys & Girls Club of Fall River to support the organization’s Reading Club and Homework Help Tutoring Program.
Boys & Girls Club Executive Director Peter McCarthy said, “The Verizon Foundation is vital to the club’s ability to provide members homework support and activities … to fuel lifelong interest in reading and learning.”
The Reading Club Program provides opportunities for youth ages 6 to 16 to improve reading comprehension skills, while the Homework Help Tutoring offers resources and guidance to complete homework assignments and achieve academic growth. The Boys & Girls Club of Fall River serves more than 600 club members through these two programs.
“We are truly impressed with the high quality of all their programs and the large number of youth benefiting from them each year,” said Richard B. Colon, regional director of external affairs for the Verizon Foundation, who visited the club to announce the grant. &#8226
