Regional Dunkin’ franchisees award $100K in scholarships

PROVIDENCE – In its 22nd iteration, the Dunkin’ Donuts Scholarship Program saw Rhode Island and Bristol County franchisees award $1,000 scholarships to 100 local students at a luncheon on June 22, according to a Friday release by public relations firm Duffy & Shanley.

The 2017 cohort included 56 recipients hailing from Rhode Island and 44 from Bristol County.

Well-rounded high school seniors with leadership and work experience from across New England are encouraged to apply for the $1,000 scholarships which are evaluated by Dunkin’ as well as nonprofits Scholarship America in Minneapolis and the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation out of Concord.

“Paying for college can be a struggle for many families in our communities, so we’ve committed every year to help make college dreams a reality for 100 outstanding students and their families,” said Chris Prazeres, a Bristol Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee, in a statement. “Every year, we are inspired by each student’s ambition to pursue his or her dreams through higher education.”
