PROVIDENCE – Citizens Bank of Providence and Bristol County Savings Bank of Taunton have been named among the top charitable contributors in Massachusetts by the Boston Business Journal.
The two local banks were among 105 companies recently recognized for donating at least $100,000 last year to Massachusetts nonprofits. The list was announced Sept. 5 at the publication’s 2019 Corporate Citizenship Awards in Boston.

Citizens Bank ranked No. 3 overall with more than $3.4 million in charitable contributions to Massachusetts nonprofits last year.
Bristol County Savings Bank awarded more than $1.9 million to various nonprofits last year, ranking No. 43.
“As a community bank, our mission is to support our communities by making them a better place to live and work, so it is rewarding to be recognized as a good corporate citizen for the third year in a row by Boston Business Journal,” said Patrick J. Murray Jr., CEO and president of Bristol County Savings Bank, in a statement. “This announcement actually comes on the heels of the bank surpassing $20 million in donations to hundreds of nonprofits in the communities we serve since our [charitable] foundation was established in 1996.”
