BOSTON – The Rhode Island Job Corps education and training center is currently accepting students for a U.S. Department of Labor program that provides young adults ages 16 to 24 with various education and training in order to help them to find and keep a job.
“Job Corps provides a unique opportunity for young people to launch their careers,” the National Director for the Office of Job Corps, Grace Kilbane said in a statement. “Students attend academic and vocational classes, earn industry-recognized credentials, and learn critical life skills in preparation for a good job, continued education or military service.”
The program offers hands-on training in more than 100 fields including construction, finance and information technology. It also assists young people earn high school diplomas or comparable education credentials.
The program provides qualified low-income participants with room and board, basic medical care and counseling services.
