NEWPORT – Co-working center Innovate Newport and RI Bio – the state affiliate of the Biotechnology Innovation Organization – will host a Tuesday Talks event on Sept. 10. According to a news release, RI Bio’s new executive director, Carol Malysz, will speak, as well as the organization’s new Entrepreneur in Residence John “Jay” Round.

“RI Bio is excited about partnering with Innovate Newport to offer life sciences expertise and resources to entrepreneurs in the Greater Newport area,” Malysz said. “We know that by working together, we can grow the life sciences ecosystem in Rhode Island.”

The mission of the Entrepreneur in Residence is to provide life sciences entrepreneurs with information on how to launch and grow a company, covering things such as regulatory issues, funding streams and academic partnerships. According to RI Bio, Round has worked in the industry since 2006, most recently as a life sciences investment consultant for Providence’s Slater Technology Fund.

The Tuesday Talks event is free and open to the public. It’s from 12:30-1:30 p.m., in the IN Café at Innovate Newport at 513 Broadway.
