R.I.-Conn. border planning group to hold meeting

EXETER and KILLINGLY, Conn. – The Borderlands Project, a study of community planning and possible economic growth along the Rhode Island-Connecticut border, will hold a public meeting next week with presentations from members of both the project’s pilot towns.
The project started in October 2007 (READ MORE) and was intended to allow the two study towns – Exeter and Killingly, Conn. – to identify village centers and put plans in place to realize a master plan vision.
“Both towns learned important lessons along the way and they are eager to share them with other communities,” an announcement said. Presentations from planning department officials from both towns will be followed by an open discussion about how to best use the region.
Residents and planners from the two towns will meet Wednesday, March 25, at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Robert P. Jordon Community Center in Sterling, Conn.

Announced in 2003, the Borderlands Project aims to study planning for the 20 municipalities along the Rhode Island-Connecticut border. It is sponsored by The Nature Conservancy and others and is supported by the Orton Family Foundation. For additional information, visit www.borderlandsproject.org.
