R.I. Foundation awards grant to support group

The Adolescent Leadership Council (TALC) at Hasbro Children’s Hospital has received more than $57,000 in funding from the Rhode Island Foundation. The strategy grant will fund the creation of a new position – program director – that will oversee the TALC program, expand its reach to more patients, and broaden the services it provides to teens. The grant will allow the program, now in its third year, to continue serving teens with chronic illnesses as they prepare to transition into adulthood.
Through TALC, teenagers from throughout Rhode Island with chronic illnesses such as asthma, diabetes, or sickle cell disease, are brought together with Brown University student mentors who also have chronic illnesses.
