R.I. gas prices rise for 7th week, to $2.679

PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island gasoline prices rose for the seventh consecutive week, to 50 cents per gallon above the price eight weeks ago, AAA Southern New England reported today.
AAA’s April 2 survey of gas prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, unleaded regular averaging $2.679 per gallon, 7 cents more than last week. Eight weeks ago, in the second week of February, the average price was $2.179 per gallon – the lowest this year.
One year ago, the average price was $2.559.
The range in prices for self-serve regular in the latest survey was 13 cents, from a low of $2.629 to a high of $2.759, the nonprofit auto club reported. AAA reported wider price ranges for other grades.
Average self-serve prices for other grades of fuel this week were $2.789 per gallon for midgrade unleaded; $2.899 for premium unleaded; and $2.79 for diesel.
