R.I. launches site on state’s financial information

PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island has created a website for the state’s financial information, ranging from budget reports to Division of Taxation reports.

The state’s “Investor Relations Portal” was launched on Thursday ahead of two upcoming bond offerings and can be accessed through the Treasury site.

In addition to the website, the state also completed a review of its bond disclosure practices, and improved the information statement and related bond disclosure information that will accompany all future bond offerings, the General Treasurer’s office said in a statement.

“Transparency is paramount when it comes to public finances,” said General Treasurer Gina M. Raimondo. “Building and maintaining trust and confidence is essential to moving the state onto firmer financial ground.”

The posted information includes:

  • Budget reports from the Department of Administration’s Budget Office
  • Revenue Estimating Conference reports
  • Division of Taxation reports
  • Employees’ Retirement System of Rhode Island financial statements, audits and valuations
  • Financial reports from the Auditor General
  • Official statements for bond offerings
  • State Investment Commission reports

In its review of its bond disclosure practices, the state said it met with bond rating agencies and institutional bond buyers, reviewed the state’s bond portfolio with bond counsel, fiscal advisers and senior underwriters, and developed and hosted a standard training program for state employees on bond disclosure practices and standards.
