R.I. Lottery recognized for reporting standards

CRANSTON – The R.I. Lottery, the state’s third-largest source of revenue, has been recognized by an independent auditing association for maintaining a high standard in accounting and financial reporting.
The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting was awarded to the Lottery by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2008.
After being reviewed by an impartial panel of auditing professionals, the Lottery earned the award for demonstrating a “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate the public and others to use the report for research and other uses. &#8226
