R.I. women’s group honored by black police association

The National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers has chosen the Rhode Island Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women as the recipient of its 2007 Organization of The Year Award, one of the highest civilian awards presented by the group.
The Organization of The Year Award is given to recognize efforts in strengthening and empowering communities of color, or fostering stronger relationships between those communities and their law enforcement guardians.
The National Coalition for 100 Black Women is a nonprofit organization with a membership of more than 7,000 women in 26 states and Washington, D.C. The Rhode Island Chapter was founded in September 2001.
