BRISTOL – The R.I. Turnpike and Bridge Authority Foundation is hosting the inaugural Mount Hope Bridge 5K road race on Aug. 12 to benefit the Rotary Club of Bristol.

Starting in Portsmouth, near the base of Mount Hope Bridge, the 3.1-mile course stretches across the bridge and into nearby Roger Williams University campus. The race, sponsored in part by RWU and Gray Matter Marketing, will commence at 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 12.

“The Bristol Rotary Club is excited to be part of this historic event, the first road race across the Mount Hope Bridge. The RITBA, Gray Matter Marketing, Roger Williams University have been working together over the past couple of years to make this race a reality,” said Mary Jo Tavares, president of the Bristol Rotary Club, in a statement.
