The move makes room for new board trustees to replace the retiring members. Roger Williams said the board will continue to make changes intended to create stronger governance, including staggered board terms and term limits.

The hospital has agreed to make certain reforms as part of a deferred prosecution deal to resolve federal corruption charges.
