Savers opens Providence store

PROVIDENCE – International thrift store chain opened its fourth store in Rhode Island last week at the former site of a Sears appliance and service center.
The 20,000-square-foot store at 201 Branch Ave. in Providence joins Rhode Island Savers in East Providence, Warwick and Woonsocket.
The Providence store will also host the Big Sisters of Rhode Island Community Donation Center, where people can drop off reusable clothing and household goods. Savers in turn buys the items from Big Sisters.
Savers said the store itself would stock more than 5,000 items, including men’s, women’s and children’s clothing and accessories, housewares, electronics and furniture.
“We’re excited to open our first location in Providence and offer local shoppers great deals on quality vintage and modern clothing, home décor, and more,” said Geri Amaral, the new store manager. “We’re also thrilled about our partnership with Big Sisters where we can help support an organization that is committed to guiding children in our community to succeed.”
A Savers spokeswoman said the chain is renting the building.
