Seekonk’s Jacob Hill Inn receives perfect marks in national quality measurement

MARSHALL, Mich. – Select Registry, an association representing North America’s most distinctive lodgings, announced Thursday that Jacob Hill Inn in Seekonk is one of only three inns in the nation to achieve a perfect score on its 2010 quality assurance inspection.

Other perfect-scoring properties were The Honor Mansion in Healdsburg, Calif., and Rabbit Hill Inn of Lower Waterford, Vt.

Will Carlson, executive director of Select Registry, said his organization is delighted to recognize Jacob Hill for its “commitment to excellence.”

“In the entire history of our organization, no more than 10 properties have ever achieved perfect scores,” Carlson said. “That makes us particularly proud of the unique accomplishments of these three exemplary inns.” Select Registry was established in the early 1970s.

An inspector who visited Jacob Hill in June found that “building and grounds were well maintained, guest rooms were in excellent condition, breakfast was delightful and hospitality was over-the-top,” the registry said.

Situated on a country estate 10 minutes from downtown Providence, Jacob Hill Inn houses 12 guest rooms and suites, with original fireplaces dating back to 1722. The inn offers a “Fun for Foodies” vacation package that includes hands-on cooking classes from celebrated chefs from Johnson & Wales University in Providence.

Select Registry said its inspections are performed by an independent hospitality consulting firm, Quality Consultants Inc., based in Rhode Island. An inspector checks in anonymously, spends the night and grades the inn on a 200-point system, assessing such features as dining, check-in and check-out procedures, maintenance of the grounds and friendliness of the staff.
