Sept. traffic at T.F. Green up 6.4%

WARWICK – Total passengers enplaned and deplaned in September at T.F. Green Airport increased 6.4 percent year over year to 341,745 passengers from 321,282, according to the R.I. Airport Corp this week.

Southwest Airlines accounted for more passengers than any other carrier at 121,611 total passengers for the month, 35.6 percent of all traffic, followed by American Airlines at 84,818 passengers, or 24.8 percent of enplaned and deplaned passengers.

Year to date, the airport had a total of 3.3 million passengers enplaned and deplaned, a 15.1 percent increase year over year from 2.8 million the year prior.

In September, the airport reported a total of 2.3 million pounds of cargo enplaned and deplaned, an 8.4 percent decline year over year from 2.5 million pounds.

Year to date, total cargo totaled 50.8 million pounds, a 151.2 percent increase year over year from 20.2 million pounds, reflecting the sharp and brief increase in cargo passing through the airport from operations related to Amazon.com Inc., operations that have since shifted to Bradley International Airport in Hartford, Conn.
