
FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Cumberland Farms has awarded seven soon-to-be college students from Rhode Island and Bristol County, Mass. $1,000 Believe and Achieve scholarships, the company announced.
The scholarships, awarded to “promising students” who live within 30 miles of any Cumberland Farms store, go toward college expenses, according to a release. The company considers both academic performance and financial need in awarding scholarships.

“High school graduates deserve to get the college education of their dreams, without having to worry about finances standing in the way,” said Group Chief Operating Officer for The Cumberland Gulf Group Ari Haseotes in a statement. “Cumberland Farms is proud to help these accomplished young adults reach their educational goals through our Believe and Achieve scholarship program, and we wish them well in their future endeavors.”
Cumberland Farms is awarding $130,000 in scholarships this year to students in 11 states.
The local recipients were Maya Bergandy of Tiverton, attending Worcester Polytechnic Institute; Madeleine Fournier of Riverside, attending Syracuse University; Jennifer Kosteer of Chepachet, attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Rachel Pimentel of Tiverton, attending Salve Regina University; Chelsea Cormier of Acushnet, Mass., attending Bristol Community College; Steven Tran of Taunton, Mass., attending Tufts University and Hayley Morais of East Freetown, Mass., attending Salve Regina University.
