Shawmut works on PC dorms

PROVIDENCE – As Providence College students enjoy their summer away from campus, Shawmut Design and Construction is progressing with renovations at two residence halls.
At Davis Hall, Providence-based Shawmut is renovating kitchenettes and bathroom vanities in 83 suites. At Davis Hall, the contractor is overhauling six bathrooms spread across three floors. Shawmut expects to wrap up work at both dorms in time for the start of the academic year.
The company said the nearly $3 million contract represented its first project on the PC campus.
The renovations are part of a larger, multi-year effort by PC to overhaul all its 15 residence halls that house a combined 3,100 students.
In April, PC’s Senior Vice President of Finance and Business John Sweeney told PBN the renovations would be completed in stages and cost about $35 million.
