The Fane Organization appeared before Providence City Council to present a new version of its proposed $300 million residential skyscraper, Hope Point Tower. The building, to be located in the I-195 Redevelopment District, requires rezoning in order to be built a high as it Fane wants it to be. Originally proposed to stretch to a height of 600 feet, Jason Fane, president of the New York-based developer, said that the building would now top out at 530 feet (excluding building mechanicals at its top), roughly 100 feet taller than then city’s current tallest building, the Industrial National Bank building, commonly known as the “Superman Building,” which tops out at 428 feet.

The project already has the approval of the I-195 Redevelopment District Commission, but needs the city to give its OK as well. There is a lot of support as well as opposition. What do you think?
