CRANSTON – Michelle DeSerres, a health occupations instructor at Davies Career and Technical High School in Lincoln was named Teacher of the Year by SkillsUSA Rhode Island during the technical education organization’s 33th annual awards ceremony last month.
About 150 students from technical schools in Rhode Island earned awards in about 50 categories ranging from advertising design to marine technology during the ceremony at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet on March 26.
The top Rhode Island students now will compete with other technical education students nationwide in Kansas City, Mo., in June at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference. •
