“Public Display has shown tremendous progress in refining its technology and attracting high-caliber talent,” Thorne Sparkman, managing director of the Slater Technology Fund, said in announcing the new investment. “With its innovative Web solution and strong management team, the company holds great potential, and we are greatly optimistic about its future.”

Public Display was founded in 2006 by a team of local serial entrepreneurs. Its proprietary technology employs artificial intelligence and natural language processing to make it easier to locate and use digital information on the Internet.

The company’s FuseCal application – currently in testing, and available online – is designed to help consumers more easily organize and subscribe to iCalendar files on the Web. It also enables advertisers and Webmasters to pinpoint and update users based on temporal, geographic and event-related information.

“Slater’s continued support has allowed Public Display to expand product development, and we are looking forward to future growth as our technology moves through testing,” said Bill O’Farrell, Public Display’s founder and CEO. “Slater’s investment has been critical to increasing funding potential and outside interest.”

The Slater Technology Fund, established in 1997 by then-Gov. Lincoln Almond and the R.I. General Assembly, provides seed capital to technology-based businesses in Rhode Island. To learn more, visit www.slaterfund.com.
