WASHINGTON – The Halstead at Slatersville Mill, a redevelopment in the historic North Smithfield village of Slatersville, last week was named one of two national finalists in the Best New Loft Apartment Community category of the 2009 Pillars of the Industry Awards.
Completed in January 2008, the 202-year-old mill complex was renovated into 224 apartments by Boston’s The DSF Group. The project cost $50 million, the developers told Providence Business News early last year. (READ MORE)
The awards are given annually by the National Association of Home Builders. The other finalist in the Best New Loft Apartment Community category was The Lofts at Park Crest, McLean, Va.
“This year’s finalists represent the creativity of industry leaders who’ve combined beauty and high quality with an emphasis on what is most valuable to residents,” NAHB’s Multi-family Leadership Board Chairman Steve Patterson said in an accompanying statement. “In the current economic environment, it is also extremely encouraging to see so many multifamily builders focusing on affordability and long-term sustainability.”
The award winners will be announced at the Multi-family’s Pillars of the Industry Conference to be held March 17 to 19 in San Diego.
The DSF Group is a private real estate investment firm – with offices in Waltham, Mass., and Washington, D.C. – focusing on high-value-added commercial and residential projects, mostly in the Northeast. For more information, visit www.thedsfgroup.com.
