
PROVIDENCE – Mayor-elect Brett Smiley has announced several more key appointments to his new administration, which will begin work when he takes office on Jan. 2.
Patricia Coyne-Fague will serve as director of public works. Coyne-Fague most recently worked as the director of the R.I. Department of Corrections, where she led a department with a $265 million budget and oversaw 1,300 staff members.

Stephen Grace will serve as the director of recreation. Grace last served as coordinator of student support for Providence Public Schools and served a number of capacities in Boston Public Schools.
Jonathan Martin will join Smiley’s administration as director of public property. Martin, who most recently served as senior training manager and military professor in the U.S. Army, has 21 years of experience within the military field.
Joe Wilson Jr. will serve as the director of art, culture and tourism. Wilson has been a company member at Providence’s Trinity Repertory Company for 17 years and has been deeply involved with Providence’s arts scene.
“I’m incredibly proud of the team that we are building and the quality of the candidates who have expressed interest in coming on board,” said Smiley. “I am excited to announce these individuals as key members of my administration, and know that together, we bring invaluable experiences and knowledge to city government.”
Smiley also announced the department directors that have been reappointed:
- Dante Bellini as city & school controller
- Stephany Lopes as director of licensing & city registrar
- Lawrence Mancini as chief financial officer
- Janesse Muscatelli as tax assessor
- Wendy Nilsson as superintendent of parks
- Dr. Silas Pinto as director of diversity, equity, inclusion & belonging
- Sue Robbio as director of senior services
- Sara Silveria as director of finance
- Jim Silveria as chief information officer
- Alejandro Tirado as associate director of purchasing.
