Sophia Academy announces new board members

THE SOPHIA ACADEMY welcomed six new board members for the 2017-2018 fiscal and academic year, while bidding farewell to three outgoing board members, during its closing-of-the-year meeting.

PROVIDENCE – During its closing-of-the-year meeting, Sophia Academy bid farewell to three outgoing board members and welcomed six new members for the 2017-2018 fiscal and academic year.

Exiting members include Joy Fox and Toby Simon, as well as Kim Perry, outgoing president who has served on the middle school’s board for nine years.

The new board members include Janet Hasson, president and publisher of The Providence Journal; Manny Barrows, Bank Rhode Island’s health care and not-for-profit banking team leader; Ruben Feliz, a rescue lieutenant with the Providence Fire Department; Alexandra McMullen, director of the middle school at St. Andrew’s School in Barrington; Dr. Ritu Goel, a local ear, nose and throat specialist; and Donna Sams, an organization development and change management expert.

In addition, Alison Eichler, co-president of Eichler Realty Co. Inc., will serve as president of the school’s board of directors for the upcoming year.
